David Trench is CEO of WasteFuel. David is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the global energy and technology sectors. He brings a deep track record as a venture builder and transformative leader, with a strong focus on growth, implementation and operational excellence.
David began his career in technical and operational roles, advancing to senior commercial, strategic, and business development positions in the energy sector with Shell and BHP. His unique blend of commercial and technical expertise led to senior leadership and executive roles in world-class businesses with Shell. His global experience spans Australia, the USA, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Following his tenure at Shell, David joined Meraas, a diversified investment holding company in the UAE, as Chief Operating Officer (COO). As COO, David served on the Executive Committee and held P&L responsibility over a diverse set of business units. He also spearheaded corporate strategy and a business transformation program for the Group.
Post Meraas, David joined noon, a high-growth technology start-up in the Middle East, as Senior Vice President (SVP). In this role, he led several high-priority strategic growth projects on behalf of the CEO, including the regional expansion of noon's e-commerce and digital platforms, building a standalone monetization business unit, and scaling a separate fintech based venture.
David is also a Board Member of Ocean Harvest, an agri-tech startup focused on sustainable, tech-enabled food production in the Middle East, where he previously served as CEO and Co-Founder.
In addition to his corporate roles, David founded and served as Managing Director of TrenZenith Advisory, a boutique executive advisory firm serving senior executives and entrepreneurs globally.
David holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree with First Class Honours from the University of Western Australia. He is also an internationally accredited executive coach.
Residing in Dubai with his wife and two children, David enjoys hiking, playing sports, and exploring nature in his free time.
